Tom Griffin is the Executive Director of the Virginia Green Travel Alliance (VGTA), the 501c3 non-profit organization that was created to support and expand the marketing and outreach efforts of the Virginia Green Travel program and support green tourism projects statewide. Tom became the VGTA’s Executive Director in July of 2014. Prior to that, he served contractually for the Virginia Tourism Corporation as the Virginia Green Program Director since 2010. Tom previously worked for the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, where he helped to create the Virginia Green Travel program partnership in 2008. Tom has a technical background in pollution prevention principles, environmental management systems, wetlands delineation, environmental assessments, and waste stream auditing. Education includes BA in Economics (UVA), Certificate in Environmental Studies (VCU), & Masters in Environmental / Urban & Regional Planning (VCU).
Virginia Perry has over 17 years of hospitality experience, including hotel/convention sales, restaurant management, bar-tending/menu design, music editing and DJ services. Throughout her career as Catering Sales Manager for various hotels, including Hilton hotels, Virginia planned and oversaw over 500 events, including galas, fundraisers, trade shows, corporate conferences and over 300 weddings! Virginia Perry has a Bachelor’s Degree for George Mason University. As a personal consultant, Virginia now focuses on wedding clients, Corporate events and private reception consultations.
